2024 Three-Star DE Darien Mayo Recaps "Awesome" Virginia Tech Visit

Darien Mayo Faheem Delane VT Miami 2022

Virginia Tech hosted a very talented group of recruits this past weekend including 2024 three-star DE Darien Mayo who made the visit with standout 2025 recruit Faheem Delane, the brother of talented VT freshman CB Mansoor Delane. Mayo's gameday visit to Blacksburg went quite well as he shared with us.

"It was awesome, great experience for sure. Just the atmosphere in general was great," Mayo said.

The environment as a whole impressed him and not just Enter Sandman but the energy that Tech fans brought to this 12:30pm kickoff which was unique to him as he shared with us.

"it was the loudest game I have ever been to before," Mayo said.

His visit to Virginia Tech also included spending time with defensive line coach J.C. Price with his conversations and time with Price going well as he shared with us.

"It was good. He made me feel at home," Mayo said.

He also got to see the Brent Pry-Chris Marve defense in person on a day where standout DE TyJuan Garbutt had 3 tackles for loss including 1.5 sacks. Overall, he feels he would fit well in VT's defense as he shared with us.

"I would fit in well because of my length, and I am comfortable with their defensive scheme," Mayo said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"Virginia Tech is still one of my favorites. This was my favorite college game I've attended so far," Mayo said.

He expanded on why this was his favorite college football game he's attended so far.

"The energy of the crowd, and coaches and recruiting staff spent a lot of time with me. Made me feel at home," Mayo said. "The team entrance and music too."

Virginia Tech impressed talented 6'7'' DE Darien Mayo this past weekend with a memorable experience that should certainly help their hopes of landing him as part of their 2024 class.
