Gonzalez had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer.
"I was thrilled, it’s a great team and school so I was nothing but excited," Gonzalez said.
Tech joins a quality offer list that includes schools like Penn State, Miami, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Maryland, and Syracuse. Louisville and Duke are also showing lots of interest according to Gonzalez and could be soon to join his offer list.
This offer shouldn't come as a surprise as the Pittsburgh area standout is averaging almost 20 yards per reception.
The offer came during a conversation he had with head coach Brent Pry with Gonzalez adding this on how that conversation went as a whole.
"Very good, he just talked about the type of players he’s trying to bring to his program and how I fit into all that," Gonzalez said.
His visit to Blacksburg went well as a whole as Gonzalez shared with us.
"It was cool. I loved the campus and people they had on staff. It really felt like a family," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez had this to say about what he did during his visit.
"I got there, met a lot of the coaches, saw a video talk to some other recruits, got to do a photo shoot, and get a campus tour," Gonzalez said.
So what made it a "cool" visit for Gonzalez?
"The campus was beautiful and the staff was great. You could just tell they're genuine and I value that a lot," Gonzalez said.
So how did this visit and offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"The visit definitely opened my eyes to what’s out there. I’d definitely put them up there in my recruitment, but I’m still keeping my options open as well," Gonzalez said.
Virginia Tech made a strong, first impression on Peter Gonzalez to make themselves contenders early on in his recruitment.
