It's been two weeks since we last dove into where things stand in regards to redshirts among Virginia Tech's freshman class and there have been some significant changes through two ACC games.

Let's start with Noah Chambers going from not playing a single snap in the first four games to emerging as a significant part of Virginia Tech's linebacker rotation during ACC play. Meanwhile, Jojo Crim is on the verge of being the first freshman Hokie to burn his redshirt this season, but likely not the only to do so this fall unlike Quentin Reddish last year.

So let's dive into where things stand on the redshirt front.

  • CB Jojo Crim

If Jojo Crim touches the field for a single snap the rest of the way, he will officially burn his redshirt. That almost seems certain to come this week at Georgia Tech with a chance that Crim could even start.

Crim played a season-high 49 snaps against Wake Forest and put up solid numbers with one tackle plus only one 11-yard reception allowed on two targets. His overall PFF grade of 58.0 is slightly below average but he did receiving a coverage grade above 60 for the fourth-straight game.

One thing that was notable was the fact that Crim played 13 more snaps than Thomas Williams in this game. While it seemed unlikely that Crim could push for a starting job this season, that appears much more possible after what we saw against Wake Forest. That is a starting competition worth monitoring as Crim should officially burn his redshirt this Saturday versus Georgia Tech.
