Final preparations are under way for Virginia Tech before they open the season against No. 13 South Carolina in one of the biggest games of this opening weekend. The game gives Tech and Brent Pry a unique stage to prove themselves against a South Carolina program that has CFB Playoff aspirations this season.

Oddsmakers have labeled the matchup as barely being a one-score game, with South Carolina entering as a roughly eight-point favorite. For Brent Pry and his squad, this game represents more than just a high-profile opener — it’s a chance to set the tone for a season where the Hokies aim to take the next step forward in year four of his tenure. A win here could give Tech early national relevance, while a loss would only magnify the questions that still linger after last season’s ups and downs.

So with that said, here are my Hokies to watch against South Carolina.
