Four-star WR Micah Matthews out of Bridgewater, VA was among the most notable recruits at Virginia Tech this past weekend for an official visit. The #1 WR in VA for the 2025 class was impressed by the Hokies as he shared with us.
"I had a great time. VT really knows how to show hospitality," Matthews said.
He added this on what made this visit a "great time".
"Quality time with the coaching staff at the lake and bowling alley, and just seeing staff and players away from the facility," Matthews said.
So what did Matthews do during his official visit? Here are some of the highlights he mentioned.
"I had meetings with the offensive coordinator, WRs coach and strength coach. I went to the lake and bowled with my host Ali Jennings," Matthews said.
As Matthews mentioned, Virginia Tech star WR Ali Jennings was his player host this past weekend. He had this to say about how time with Jennings.
"It was good. He's down to earth and we chatted about lots of team stuff and transitional stuff," Matthews said.
Matthews also got to spend time with offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen and WRs coach Fontel Mines during his visit. He had this to say about his time and conversations with Tyler Bowen.
"He went over the offense and where I fit and how they would use me," Matthews said,

"We spent time going over film and then just talked about a lot of stuff from being a freshman to developing into a professional," Matthews said.
Matthews added this on how he feels he would fit in Tech's offense after this visit.
"It's a really good fit. They love getting the ball out quick to skill guys and letting them make plays," Matthews said.
It was a busy weekend for Matthews but what did he enjoy most about his visit?
"I enjoyed the quality time spent with coaches and players outside of football," Matthews said. "I've seen all the facilities and heard all the academic stuff but just seeing the coaches outside of football was helpful."
So with all that said, how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"VT is one of my top schools. I'm taking my last two visits this month (to UNC and Maryland), and will have a better idea then," Matthews said.
After trips to Utah and BYU last weekend, Virginia Tech impressed four-star WR Micah Matthews and put themselves in a great spot as visits to UNC and Maryland still loom before a decision later this summer.
