Virginia Tech was busier than expected during the spring transfer portal especially along the defensive line as they landed a trio of defensive tackle additions to provide further depth for that room.
While that move was a surprise to many outside of the program and head coach Brent Pry likes the potential of his younger DTs, the Hokies head coach wanted to add some more experience to that room knowing the challenges that loom this fall.
"There's young guys that we are excited about. It's just if all of a sudden Kelvin goes down, you want to play with (redshirt freshman Andrew) Hanchuk to beat South Carolina for two quarters? So that's why we went and got that whole second run of guys to add experienced, mature depth, that have size and strength," Pry said.
That led to VT bringing in Georgia Southern's Elhadj Fall, North Dakota State's Kody Huisman, and South Florida's Immanuel Hickman. While all three have looked good so far, there's one that has impressed Pry the most among those three.
