James Djonkam has played primarily linebacker throughout his collegiate career whether that’s been as an outside linebacker or a middle linebacker like he was at Eastern Michigan. So moving to defensive end wasn’t necessarily at the top of his bingo card when he entered the transfer portal and Virginia Tech DL coach J.C. Price reached out to him about returning to his home state.
“Coach Price was probably the first coach to hit me up and he said ‘look man, you trying to come home and play defensive end’. The defensive end part was like ‘uhh’ but he said come home and I said ‘say no more, I’m home.’” Djonkam said.
