Many consider Virginia Tech to be the Commonwealth of Virginia's flagship football program. That stems not only from the urge to win on the field but also off it. Signing the top high school athletes in the state helps with this. For Virginia Tech, it's been easier said than done over the last decade, but the program has been working hard in recent years to rebuild relationships with the state's top players and high schools.
In James Franklin’s initial recruiting class, he’s brought in six of the top 25 players in the state including four consensus top 15 recruits, building on the foundation that Brent Pry left on the recruiting trail within VA.
“We took a tremendous amount of pride in the state of Virginia, that will always be the case, it's got to start at home with the high school players [and] the high school coaches. It starts here at home.” James Franklin said on recruiting in Virginia.
Though Virginia might not have the top talent of Texas or Florida, it is still a hotbed of high school talent with plenty of areas that are critical for VT to recruit well including the 757.
