[Credit: Harley Taylor][/caption]The Virginia Tech Hokies have been busy looking to bring in some more depth at quarterback ahead of their spring competition after finding out that Jerod Evans would leave early for the NFL Draft. It started with 2017 three-star QB Hendon Hooker making the decision to enroll early at Virginia Tech and today, the Hokies have gained another QB to throw into the mix.

JUCO QB AJ Bush committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies in what seems to be almost immediately after being offered by Virginia Tech. Bush was at Nebraska for two seasons before transferring to Iowa Western Community College this past fall and moving on to the Hokies now in what is a somewhat similar path to Jerod Evans who went JUCO for two years after a semester at Air Force. Bush will be a junior for the Hokies and immediately eligible to play making him a part of the quarterback competition.
With Bush announcing his commitment now, we expect that he will be enrolling early for the Hokies and at least gives Virginia Tech some much-needed on-scholarship quarterback depth with the Hokies previously looking at a proposition of having a redshirt freshman in Josh Jackson, a true freshman in Hendon Hooker, and two walk-ons in redshirt sophomore Jack Click and redshirt freshman Chase Mummau.
Right now, Josh Jackson is still the favorite to be the Hokies' starting QB, but the addition of Bush gives the Hokies a great opportunity at redshirting Hooker if Hooker doesn't win the starting QB job with Virginia Tech having a more experienced backup now in Bush who has experience from his time at Nebraska and Iowa Western.
