On Monday, both quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten were named ACC players of the week at their respective positions. This came after Virginia Tech put 38 points up on Saturday night, the most it has scored under head coach Brent Pry since he was hired in December 2021.
Both players were well deserving of the honor, as Drones accounted for five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing), totaling 228 passing yards and 41 rushing yards in just his third collegiate start. As for Tuten, the 2022 FCS All-American broke the 100 yard-marker for his first time as a Hokie, totaling 109 yards on the ground with 24 carries. Tuten also received one of Drones' touchdown passes as part of the 4 catches he had for 37 yards in this game.
The five touchdown performance from Drones was the first time a Tech signal caller has reached the accolade since 2017.
Virginia Tech, led by its offensive stars, will look to carry its play as they head to Tallehasse to take on the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles this Saturday.
