North Carolina WR Transfer Stephen Gosnell Commits to Virginia Tech

Corps Flags 1

Virginia Tech has gained their fourth transfer commitment within the past week as North Carolina WR Stephen Gosnell has committed to the Hokies.

Gosnell is the second transfer WR to commit to the Hokies this offseason along with Temple standout Jadan Blue. He was a backup WR for UNC this past season and had 2 catches for 11 yards. Gosnell will have three years of eligibility remaining upon arrival in Blacksburg.

The commitment of Stephen Gosnell gives the Hokies another set of brothers in Blacksburg after his younger brother, four-star TE Benji Gosnell, signed with the Hokies during the Early Signing Day window this past December.

The addition of Gosnell will create even more competition in the WR room with Gosnell projecting as an outside receiver most likely though he did spend some time as the backup slot WR for UNC behind Tar Heels star Josh Downs.

Gosnell should be able to come in and compete for opportunities behind the likely starting trio of Jadan Blue, Kaleb Smith, and Da'Wain Lofton though it'll be a tough battle with guys like Jaylen Jones and Jaden Payoute who also could push to break into the starting group of receivers. Additionally, Tech has plenty of other young guys like Dallan Wright, Christian Moss, and Keli Lawson ready to push making this a battle for Gosnell, but one he is clearly ready to take on.

Stephen Gosnell's addition likely means the Hokies are done at WR for now in terms of the transfer portal or at least will be much more selective, potentially focusing more on a veteran, jumbo WR to pair with Kaleb Smith and compliment guys like Blue and Lofton.
