Virginia Tech added some much-needed tight end depth as the Hokies landed a commitment from Penn State TE Luke Reynolds.
Virginia Tech added another high-caliber transfer from Penn State in TE Luke Reynolds.
Reynolds had a strong sophomore season with 26 catches for 257 yards while starting seven games for the Nittany Lions. He also earned a 62.1 PFF grade this past season including a 68.2 run blocking grade.
Reynolds is a former five-star recruit per 247 Sports who has two years of eligibility plus a redshirt remaining. He is the second tight end transfer addition for the Hokies, joining fellow Penn State TE transfer Matt Henderson.
Reynolds provides a strong boost to a Virginia Tech TE room that hadn't signed a scholarship tight end since the 2023 cycle prior to landing four-star TE Pierce Petersohn this year (with three-star TE Isaiah Pina still committed to VT but unsigned). The Hokies need more young talent in that room that can make an impact, and Reynolds can do just that for the Hokies.
He immediately gives VT a strong 1-2 duo at tight end for now with Benji Gosnell, who was not heavily used this past season, but should be a much better fit in a James Franklin-Ty Howle offense that will likely get the tight ends more involved.
