Quentin Reddish Looking Like a ‘Phenomenal’ True Sophomore Safety

In a Virginia Tech safety room that has been defined by change this offseason with Jalen Stroman and Mose Phillips transferring out and four new safeties transferring in, there has been one player who has been a constant for the Hokies: Quentin Reddish.

The true sophomore from Charlotte is the lone returning safety with significant experience playing safety at Virginia Tech after being the only true freshman to avoid a redshirt last season. He had one flashy moment on special teams returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown versus Clemson, but was steady otherwise with 20 tackles while earning a 64.6 PFF defensive grade.

Reddish looked like the future of the safety room entering the offseason and though the Hokies brought in those four older transfer safeties, his new teammate Tyson Flowers knows that Reddish is way better than your typical sophomore.

“He's phenomenal. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around that he's a true sophomore. Because when I was his age and when I was playing football my sophomore year, I was nowhere near the level that he's at right now,” Flowers said.

Flowers expanded on how Reddish specifically has impressed him despite Reddish only being a true sophomore.
