The talent level in the Roanoke Valley has been improving which shows in the quantity of Power 5 offers into the region including one from Virginia Tech to 2024 LB/DB Chris Cole out of Salem, VA.

Cole had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer during a recent visit to Blacksburg.
"I was excited because it’s always been my dream to play for a Power 5 school. My hard work payed off and my dreams are coming true," Cole said.
He received the offer during a conversation with head coach Brent Pry after a camp and at the end of a visit that followed.
"The conversation was informative and encouraging. Coach Pry pointed out how he and the coaching staff believe in me. I learned a lot about the facilities and the academic support that is available for student athletes," Cole said.
Tech is the first offer for Cole though there's plenty of interest as he is currently camping at and visiting Notre Dame while he's also received interest from Penn State, Wake Forest, and Appalachian State per conversations with Cole, and what he's shared on social media.
Being offered by VT wasn't the only part of his visit with his whole time in Blacksburg on June 15th going well as he shared with us.
"It was a positive and unforgettable experience. The coaches and coaching staff welcomed me and my family, making us feel at home. I was truly impressed!" Cole said.
So what did he do while on his visit?
"I toured the campus, had lunch in the student-athlete dining hall, spoke with the academic advisors, took pictures in VT's uniform, and met with the head coach and staff," Cole said.
He added this on what stood out to him during his visit to Blacksburg.
"What stood out to me during the visit was the new student-athlete housing, dining hall, the amazing academic advisors, and the indoor and outdoor training facilities. Overall, I liked everything about Virginia Tech," Cole said.
So how does this offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"This offer impacted my recruitment by giving me more exposure. Virginia Tech was the first to believe in me. As of now, they are my top 1. However, I’m continuing to keep my options open," Cole said.
Chris Cole is an intriguing linebacker/safety prospect with the Salem, VA standout poised to be a name to watch for Virginia Tech in the 2024 cycle.
