A scary situation unfolded this afternoon at Lane Stadium as one of the pregame skydivers collided with the top of the Lane Stadium scoreboard and was stranded dangling from the scoreboard for about 20 minutes before being rescued by the Blacksburg 12 ladder fire truck's bucket crane.

Virginia Tech has announced that the skydiver is "secure and stable" almost an hour after the initial incident. VT also released the following full statement.
"We are grateful to report that the skydiver was safely secured and is currently stable. Our primary focus remains on their well-being. We extend our sincere appreciation to the first responders, event staff, and medical personnel for their swift, coordinated and professional response."
Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline also went and saw the skydiver walking away with his arm in a sling.
Just passed the parachuter outside. He’s walking away. Has his arm in a sling.

The Spring Game was delayed for about an hour due to the incident and the rescue operation, which included EMTs climbing into the Lane Stadium scoreboard and needing time to climb out of it.
