Virginia Tech football head coach Justin Fuente recently gave Greg Stroman the honor of wearing Frank Beamer’s legendary #25 jersey this weekend against Boston College.
This is Stroman’s 3rd
time wearing the #25 jersey, and the second time this season. Stroman wore it in last year’s home game against East Carolina, and he was chosen to honor Beamer again in Greenville against East Carolina this season.
Stroman has started all five games for the Hokies at both cornerback and punt returner, and he is eighth on the team in all-purpose yards. Greg Stroman is averaging 12.2 yards per punt return for the Hokies, and he has one touchdown this year.
Stroman returned a punt 61 yards to open the scoring for the Hokies against Delaware. Stroman returned a punt 43 yards to the Clemson two-yard line in the fourth quarter of last weekend’s game, leading to a two-yard touchdown for Sean Savoy. So far, Stroman has 159 punt return yards on 13 returns this season.
Stroman is also one of four defensive players to have an interception for the Hokies this season. Stroman’s interception came against East Carolina when he picked off quarterback Gardner Minshew while wearing #25. That was Stroman’s sixth interception in his career. Stroman has five tackles at corner this season, while accumulating 45 tackles throughout his four-year career at Virginia Tech.
Stroman will be the fifth different player in six games to wear #25 for the Hokies when he takes the field in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts to face the Boston College Eagles. The game will be televised on ESPN2, and kickoff is at 7:15.
