Three-Star LB Chris Cole Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Chris Cole Jan 2023 VT Visit

Talented three-star LB Chris Cole out of in-state powerhouse Salem HS was among the most notable recruits on campus this past Monday for the Hokies' Big Dawg Junior Day. His visit went quite well as he told us.

"It was great. I got to spend time with the coaches and staff and get to know more about them and the program," Cole said.

His visit included spending time with head coach Brent Pry and nickels/sam LBs coach Shawn Quinn, his potential collegiate position coach should he choose the Hokies. He had this to say about how his time and conversations with Pry went.

"We talked about me coming back up in the spring. He said he’d like for me to come to a spring practice, sit in on the position meetings, and while I’m there also do a tour of the student housing and academic side of the campus," Cole said.

He had this to say about how his conversations and time with Shawn Quinn went.

"It’s always a pleasure to see Coach Quinn. We talked about the possibility of early enrollment spring of my senior year. He said he’d like to have me back up this spring to do a campus tour and sit in on a team meeting. He talked with my family and answered any questions they had," Cole said.

He also added this on his conversations with Pry, Quinn, and defensive coordinator Chris Marve.

"Coach Quinn and Coach Marve were both impressed with me making All A’s this 1st semester. We also talked about track and how I’ve qualified for States (in the 55m hurdles). Overall, they were super fired up about having me (potentially) join them," Cole said.

One thing that was unique about this Junior Day was the fact that it was on a Monday and not a Saturday but in Cole's eyes, the environment inside Cassell Coliseum for the VT victory over Duke made it feel like it was a Saturday Junior Day.

"It felt like a weekend, the crowd was lit! A lot of people came out to see the game. More than what I would expect for a Monday night game," Cole said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"VT still stands high on my recruitment list. The visit was great and I'm looking forward to going back in the spring," Cole said.

The Hokies continue to be a top contender for talented in-state LB Chris Cole out of nearby powerhouse Salem with the Hokies ready for the battle against Vanderbilt and others for his commitment.
