Virginia Tech’s men's basketball season (13-16, 8-10) has been a flurry of ups and downs. Tech showed resilience after losing guard Hysier Miller before the regular season, but struggled overall losing five straight non-conference games for the first time since 1924, and losing tight games against talented opponents.
A team that many counted out halfway through the year, has completely turned its season around, and now has a chance to secure a first round bye in the 2025 ACC Tournament.
Yet, even with a season that finishes below .500, the Hokies have a chance, albeit a very small one, to finish at 10-10 in the ACC and secure a first-round bye in the conference tournament, which goes to the teams that finish fifth to ninth in the regular season standings. Even one win in the final two games could be enough to earn a bye.
For the Hokies, the objective is simple.
“We just have to win basketball games,” Mylyjael Poteat said.
