Laws chose the Hokies over fellow top 5 schools Penn State, Pittsburgh, Maryland, and Georgia Tech along with other offers from Boston College, Temple, and more.
He is Tech's fifth commitment joining four-star QB Davi Belfort, three-star RB Tyler Mason, three-star DE Deric Dandy, and three-star DB Joshua Clarke. He is the first commit from Maryland in this class and second defensive lineman to commit to the Hokies so far this cycle along with Dandy.
Laws is a big time addition for the Hokies as he has been one of their top targets for most of 2023 at defensive tackle. Additionally, Tech beat out some quality regional competition in Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Maryland to get him out of powerhouse DeMatha Catholic.
DL coach J.C. Price led the charge for the Hokies in this recruitment and deserves tons of credit for helping close the deal. RBs coach Elijah Brooks also may have provided a boost as well given his deep DMV roots in part as the former head coach at DeMatha prior to joining Maryland's staff as RBs coach a few years ago.
We will have more as this story develops.
