Virginia Tech’s recruiting surge under James Franklin continued Sunday as the Hokies landed a commitment from three-star OT Maddox Cochrane.
Cochrane gives the Hokies 13 commits now including five new commits since the hiring of James Franklin. He joins four-star RB Messiah Mickens, four-star Pierce Petersohn, and three-star OTs Roseby Lubintus and Marlen Bright as Tech’s new Franklin commits. Cochrane is the first addition who wasn’t committed to Penn State at one point, having previously been committed to Wisconsin.
Cochrane reportedly visited Blacksburg the past two weekends with James Franklin and his growing staff doing a great job to lock him in quickly. He also is a prototypical offensive tackle in terms of his size at 6’7’’ and gives VT more long-term offensive line depth as Franklin prioritizes play in the trenches.
Even with Cochrane now on board, VT still isn’t done recruiting offensive linemen with four-star OT Thomas Wilder and three-star OL Benjamin Eziuka being top targets to add to a large OL class.
