Three-Star TE Will Dixon Set to Visit Virginia Tech This Sunday

VT Cadet 1

Virginia Tech's tight end board still seems a little open-ended with the Hokies likely only to take one tight end. For now, that also includes the Hokies continuing to evaluate tight end prospects to try to find the right one.

That includes three-star TE Will Dixon who received his first Power 5 offer at a camp at West Virginia recently, and now is looking to earn another one when he visits Virginia Tech this Sunday, June 5th. This visit comes amidst a recent surge of interest from the Hokies as Dixon shared with us.

"They just recently started recruiting me but coach (Tyler) Bowen called me and said he loved everything I do on film and he would absolutely love to get me down to camp and get to see me work in person," Dixon said.

Dixon has built up a solid offer list with the recent West Virginia offer headlining it for now along with Coastal Carolina, Temple, JMU, Liberty, Old Dominion, Marshall, Fordham, Maine, Bryant, and Monmouth. Tennessee and Pittsburgh are also showing interest with the Hillsborough, NJ standout having plans to visit Pittsburgh next weekend and Tennessee two weeks away as he looks to earn more Power 5 offers.

This also comes after Dixon had an impressive junior season as a two-way player with 30 catches for 404 yards and 4 touchdowns along with 15 pancakes plus 52 tackles, 23 tackles for loss including 13 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery.

So what are the strengths and weaknesses of Dixon's tight end play according to him?

"I think the main thing that I would say separates me from a lot of other HS tight ends is my blocking, I am not afraid to put my hand in the dirt and block. That being said, I also think I have great hands and am also good at catching in traffic. But I am always looking to improve on all aspects of my game weather it’s technique or just having a better understanding for a certain part of the game," Dixon said.

Looking ahead, Dixon is also confident that he has the ability to earn an offer from Virginia Tech after impressing West Virginia coaches to earn an offer from them.

"Getting the offer from WVU this past weekend definitely helps. As long as I go to camp and do what I know and have proven I can, I’m hoping they will too!" Dixon said.

He should be according to a report that Dixon tweeted out about his recent performance at a camp in Morgantown.

So as camp season kicks into full swing this weekend in Blacksburg, keep an eye on three-star TE Will Dixon as a name to watch for the Hokies this weekend.
