Among the notable visitors on campus over the past week was one of Virginia Tech's top tight end targets for the 2024 class, three-star Willie Rodriguez out of Covington, KY. His visit went quite well as he shared with us.
"It was a great visit! Coaching staff was great and treated us very well. Campus was beautiful and so were the facilities," Rodriguez said.
He had this to say about what he did during his visit.
"I toured the whole campus and all the facilities. And really just spent some time getting to know the staff and watching some clips of how they use their tight ends," Rodriguez said.
During his visit, Rodriguez got to spend a lot of time with TEs coach Stu Holt along with head coach Brent Pry which shows how highly Tech thinks of Rodriguez as a TE prospect.
He had this to say about his conversations with Holt.
"It was great! He was great to talk to. I got to know him more, and he got to know more about me and my family," Rodriguez said.
He had this to say about his conversations with Pry.
"It was awesome! Coach Pry is very real, very nice, and genuine. We loved talking with him, and he got to know us and we got to know him," Rodriguez said.
As you can tell, Tech's coaching staff getting to know Rodriguez and his family well meant a lot to the talented TE prospect from Kentucky.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"It definitely made Virginia Tech a priority to visit again in the future! Coaches were great and visit was great!" Rodriguez said.
Virginia Tech continues to be a serious contender for three-star TE Willie Rodriguez with the Hokies impressing him on his spring visit to Blacksburg.
