James Franklin and Virginia Tech continue to build up his 2027 class, landing a commitment from three-star TE/ATH Braxton Salster out of Jacksonville, Alabama on Friday.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound projected tight end is a product of Pleasant Valley High School. Salster chose Virginia Tech over Ole Miss, Auburn, Duke, Arkansas, Wake Forest, Baylor, and more.
His visit during the spring game likely gave Salster the boost he needed, announcing his commitment after bouncing around schools this spring. He visited Arkansas, Alabama, and Ole Miss.
With time spent as a QB for Pleasant Valley he threw for over 2,500 and threw for 14 touchdowns and ran for 27 more in his junior season, picking up all-state selections as a QB and athlete.
Franklin’s offenses have been known for using the tight ends, and the idea to develop at Virginia Tech with this staff is a key selling point. Salster will be joining a talented and packed tight end room in Blacksburg. Ty Howle’s reputation for developing NFL tight ends also certainly helped the Hokies as well.
Braxton Salster became the sixth commitment of the 2027 recruiting class and the second offensive commit along with three-star RB Kelvin Morrison.
