Three-star LB/S Caleb Woodson is set to make his commitment this evening with Virginia Tech among the contenders for the in-state standout along with Wake Forest and UVA where he also took official visits on opposite side of his June 10th weekend VT official.
Tech has been considered the frontrunner for a while with Wake Forest seeming like the main competition prior to his UVA official. Though that official likely did get UVA in the conversation, Tech has consistently been the frontrunner.
Per source, I feel confident that Woodson continues this strong run of recruiting for Tech picking up a third commit in as many days with this run likely to continue through the Fourth of July.
This comes as I've been feeling good about the Hokies for a few days, and wanted to throw this up here following my time discussing Woodson on the Big Dawg Sports Talk show earlier this morning where I directly mentioned my high confidence in Woodson to VT.
Woodson is the type of foundational, in-state recruit that Tech had been either overlooking or losing out on too often during the end of the Justin Fuente era. He's a versatile player who could be a LB (likely at the sam spot) or a safety for the Hokies who also has a strong offer list that also includes Florida State, South Carolina, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and more beyond the three schools he took officials to.
These are the type of foundational recruit with great size and loads of upside that Tech has to start keeping home with Brent Pry and company poised to most likely do that this evening with Woodson.
