Virginia Tech extended a very notable offer earlier this week to talented 757 defensive end Zeke Chinwike.

Chinwike had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies.

"I was really exited. I was looking at that school a lot and I’m really blessed that they gave me the offer. I put it all under God's glory!" Chinwike said.

Chinwike received the offer during a phone conversation from WRs coach and 757 area recruiter Fontel Mines, with Chinwike adding this on how his conversation with Mines went as a whole.

"It was amazing. Coach Mines is a great coach and he was complementing me on how I did on college day and then settled down and gave me the offer, and then invited me to have an official visit on June 21st," Chinwike said.

Chinwike has confirmed to us that he indeed will be taking an official visit to Virginia Tech the weekend of June 21-23.

All of this didn't come out of nowhere as Chinwike told us that he's been receiving interest from the Hokies for a little bit of time.

WRs coach Fontel Mines and safeties coach Pierson Prioleau have been among those leading the charge for the Hokies in their pursuit of Chinwike. He had this to say about his relationship with Fontel Mines.

"I feel like we just started to get to know each other, but I know we are going to have a stronger relationship in the future. Even now, it’s amazing," Chinwike said.

One other thing that could help the Hokies is the fact that Chinwike has transferred from Ocean Lakes HS to Green Run HS, a school that is becoming a pipeline of sorts for the Hokies. Tech signed four-star WR Keylen Adams from Green Run last cycle and currently have commits from three-star WR Jayden Anderson and three-star CB Knahlij Harrell this cycle.

Chinwike has seen his recruitment take off recently with Virginia Tech, West Virginia, East Carolina, JMU, Troy, UCONN, Marshall, Charlotte, and more on his offer list. Additionally, Chinwike told us that he's been receiving interest from Clemson, Cincinnati, Indiana, Virginia, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, and others. In addition to his VT visit, Chinwike is also planning to make trips to WVU, Clemson, and more in the coming weeks.

So how does this VT offer impact his recruitment and where the Hokies stand in it?

"The Hokies stand very high in it, definitely a top 3 pick," Chinwike said.

As Virginia Tech looks to assemble a strong 2025 recruiting class, keep an eye on fast-rising 757 DE Zeke Chinwike, especially as his official visit looms in just over a month.
