Virginia Tech has several offensive linemen that they appear to be focusing on this recruiting cycle including three-star OL Delfin Castillo
Delfin Castillo told us that Virginia Tech is among his "top schools" if he "had to choose now." He had this to say about why that is the case.
"I have visited a couple times and I love the campus, opportunities, and educational value I can gain from going there," Castillo said.
Delfin Castillo also told us that Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh are currently recruiting him the hardest with the ACC Coastal rivals looking like a couple top teams to watch for the star out of Baltimore powerhouse St Frances.
The good news for the Hokies is that they were able to host him on an in-person visit earlier this year on their March 1st Junior Day in addition to in-person visits to Maryland and Princeton. His in-person visit went quite welll back in March as he told us.
"It was good. I enjoyed touring the school and facilities, and learning more about the program," Castillo said.
WRs coach Jafar Williams, who is usually the area recruiter for VT in Maryland, is leading the charge for Castillo with the two building a "pretty good" relationship.
Part of the intrigue with Castillo is his size at 6'5'' and 325 pounds according to 247 Sports, giving him the versatility to play at tackle or on the interior of the offensive lineman. While Castillo does play tackle in high school, he is comfortable with playing all over the offensive line at the next level.
"Well I’ve played tackle all through my high school career so I feel I’m better at it, but I’m willing to get better and learn anywhere," Castillo said.
Looking ahead, Castillo does have a good idea about when he wants to make a decision by.
"I think I’m planning on narrowing it down and coming to a decision in like late July or August," Castillo said.
For now, Virginia Tech is a top contender for three-star OL Delfin Castillo, but they have plenty of work ahead in the coming weeks with plenty of competition from Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt (who hosted him on a virtual visit), Maryland, and others.
