Virginia Tech Among Trio Standing Out For 2022 Four-Star CB Daylen Everette

VT v UNC 2019 46

If you haven't heard of 2022 four-star CB Daylen Everette, now is the time to start to learn about him.

Everette has emerged as one of the top 2022 recruits in Virginia after an impressive sophomore season where he had 11 interceptions.

That led to a lot of attention nationally as he has offers from an impressive group of schools including Power 5 ones from Virginia Tech, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Virginia. Additionally, Everette earned a four-star rating and a spot in the initial 2022 top 247 for 247 Sports.

Everette was happy to receive the four-star rating, but his focus is on continuing to improve to the point where recruiting analysts have to give him a fifth star.

"It was cool. It felt pretty good, but now my goal is to get the 5th star," Everette said about receiving a four-star rating from 247 Sports.

As mentioned above, Everette has assembled an impressive group of offers from all over the ACC, SEC, and Big 10. Overall, Everette told us that the Hokies, UVA, Maryland, Penn State, and LSU are among the schools currently recruiting him the hardest.

More interestingly, Everette already has a trio of schools standing out in his recruitment: Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Maryland. He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently among the schools standing out in his recruitment.

"They are a good school for the position that I play, it’s a good school academically, and they are pretty close to home," Everette said.

The "DBU" reputation is one of the biggest appeals that Virginia Tech brings to the table with Everette feeling he could play at a high level at VT.

"It makes me think of how successful I could be playing with a team with that type of reputation," Everette said.

Defensive coordinator Justin Hamilton has taken on a large role in the recruitment of Daylen Everette and built a strong relationship with the four-star cornerback.

"He’s a good guy, I like him a lot. He always keeps it real with you," Everette said.

Additionally, Everette told us that he is building a solid relationship with new CBs coach Ryan Smith saying that Smith is "pretty cool."

Virginia Tech is in a strong position very early on in Daylen Everette's recruitment as they make the star 757 cornerback one of their top 2022 priorities.
