After months of uncertainty, Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin announced Virginia Tech's starting offensive line on Monday.
As of Monday's press conference, the offensive line is as follows:
Justin Terry - LT
Layth Ghannam - LG
Kyle Altuner - C
Montavious Cunningham - RG
Aidan Lynch - RT
"There are some rotations that we could have," Franklin said. "We'd like to try to play six or seven guys at some point during the game, so that once again, if we do have any issues, a guy's not going into the game cold."
Franklin also stated that both Justin Terry and Montavious Cunningham will have opportunities to play at both guard and tackle, with Terry on the left side and Cunningham on the right.
"By [Aidan] Lynch doing a really good job during training camp over the last couple weeks at right tackle, [that] gave us confidence to move Montavious in to guard and getting our best five on the field," Franklin said.
Franklin also stated that the closest competition was between Justin Terry and Logan Howland at left tackle, so there is a reasonable expectation that Logan Howland will still see significant playing time once healthy, especially with the positional versatility of both Terry and Cunningham. Howland, the Oklahoma transfer, has been sidelined recently with a shoulder injury.
The official two-deep depth chart is expected to be released on gameday as well, per Franklin.
