The Virginia Tech Men's Basketball team will play Ball State on Thursday, November 15 in the first round of the 11th Annual Charleston Classic as announced earlier today. This will be the first ever meeting between the Hokies and the Cardinals. Ball State finished 19-13 overall last season, 10-8 in the MAC. The Hokies were 21-12 overall and 10-8 in the ACC, including earning their second-consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. The Hokies and the Cardinals will play the first game of the 2018 Charleston Classic Tournament at 11:30 a.m. on ESPN2 in T.D. Arena, home of the College of Charleston. The other first-round matchup in Tech's bracket is Alabama vs Northeastern. Given the way the bracket was set up, there is a high likelihood of a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament game between the Hokies and Crimson Tide in the semifinals, giving VT an opportunity for some redemption. Appalachian State meet Purdue and Wichita State plays Davidson in the other half of the bracket. Competition will take place through Sunday, November 18. The two undefeated teams will meet in the final on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Overall, the field includes five teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season (VT, Alabama, Wichita State, Purdue, Davidson) in what is a strong field for this tournament. The all-tournament tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 13th here. Here is a look at the tournament schedule below as released by ESPN and the Charleston Classic:
