The Hokies are ranked 16th in this week's poll and the highest of the two new teams in the rankings with Richmond jumping in at 19th after beating Kentucky.
Tech is among five ACC teams ranked this week with Duke leading the way at #6, North Carolina at #14, Virginia at #15, and Florida State at #22. Additionally, Louisville and Clemson are also receiving votes with the Cardinals close to the top 25 at #29 based on the receiving votes category.
It may be early in the season, but Virginia Tech showed with their wins against Villanova and South Florida that they are more than worthy of their ranking. The analytics also back it up as the Hokies are currently ranked #22 by the famous KenPom rankings.
Tech won't be able to move up in the rankings much this week with a lone game against VMI prior to next week's ACC-Big 10 Challenge clash against Penn State. However, the Hokies are expected to see Jalen Cone make his season debut after missing the first three games which should only boost Tech even more especially on the offensive end.
