The Washington D.C. area native has hauled in four interceptions on the season for the Hokies, good enough for him to lead the ACC while tied for most in the FBS.
Last week, Waller returned his fourth interception of the year back for a touchdown in the Hokies’ 32-29 defeat to Notre Dame.
After landing on the All-ACC Honorable Mention list in 2019, the defensive back dealt with multiple injuries in 2020 that sidelined him for all but two games.
Now fully recovered, Waller has bounced back strong and has become one of the best defensive backs in the ACC. In addition to his incredible mark on interceptions, Waller also has 18 tackles and 2 additional pass breakups.
Waller becomes the third defensive player and second defensive back to receive the No. 25 jersey in 2021. Defensive back Chamarri Conner wore #25 in the season opening against North Carolina while linebacker Dean Ferguson was selected against Richmond.
