Rogers’ decision comes weeks after the dismissal of Brent Pry as Virginia Tech’s head coach. This change gives the Hokies eight remaining commits in the 2026 class and now two commits in the 2027 class.
Rogers has taken visits to Tennessee and NC State this fall and it seems very possible that depending on his options, he could reclassify forward to 2026 again. For now, he does remain committed to the Hokies.
This is a positive for the Hokies given that this at least temporarily slows things down for Rogers and buys Tech time to get their new coach in place at the end of November/beginning of December. Rogers will almost certainly be one of the first recruits that VT's next coach contacts given his massive talent and his ability to also reclassify into 2026.
