Virginia Tech received some surprising news today as starting WR Damon Hazelton announced that he'll be leaving Blacksburg and entering the transfer portal.

Hazelton, who transferred to Tech from Ball State after his freshman season, had 31 receptions for 527 yards and 8 touchdowns, averaging 17 yards per reception and earning All-ACC Honorable Mention honors despite only playing 9 games due to injury. This came after he led the way for Tech in 2018 with 51 receptions for 802 yards and 8 touchdowns on his way to earning All-ACC Second Team honors.
Hazelton is a grad transfer, but since he transferred previously, he will apparently have to apply for a waiver from the NCAA to become immediately eligible.
And because Hazelton has already transferred once in his career, from Ball State to the #Hokies, my understanding is compliance folks say he'd need an NCAA waiver to be immediately eligible at his next stop, despite being a grad transfer.
