It will be the second time in Ferguson’s career at Virginia Tech where he will appear in the No. 25 jersey after doing so last season in the Hokies’ 38-35 loss to Liberty.
The redshirt freshman has made an appearance in all three games for the Hokies in 2021, which included a tackle in last week’s loss to West Virginia in Morgantown.
The Sterling, Va. native recorded a career-high three tackles including his first career tackle for a loss for the Hokies in their win over Middle Tennessee State.
Ferguson’s time in Blacksburg began when he played in three games for the Hokies back in 2019 including the Belk Bowl.
His playing time increased in 2020 when he made six appearances for the Hokies and marked three tackles in the games that he got involved. Throughout his first two years, he was primarily a special teams specialist for the Hokies helping him earn the #25 jersey twice.
Ferguson will become the second defensive Hokie to wear the No. 25 jersey in 2021 after nickelback Chamarri Conner wore the number in the season-opening victory over North Carolina.
