It's been a slow build for Virginia Tech standout forward Tobi Lawal since making his return from injury against Stanford after being out for well about six weeks. Lawal was initially on a minute count and looked a little rusty on the court.
However, Lawal has played better each game since his return including arguably his best game of the season on Saturday as Lawal had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Hokies to an 89-76 victory over Notre Dame.
One of the things Lawal credited for his steadily improving play and his strong performance against the Irish is his grateful attitude.
“I was just trying to take every play and be grateful that I'm even be able to step back on the court. Because some people can't play anymore after they get injured. It was great," Lawal said.
One of the biggest challenges that Lawal had with his return is getting used to the wear and tear that still inevitably comes from being on the floor 25-30 minutes a night. Now with a few games under his belt, Lawal is feeling more comfortable on the floor.
