Virginia Tech Football 2026 & 2027 Recruiting Breakdown: Wide Receiver

Carnell Warren 1 VT Visit July 2024

The annual position-by-position Virginia Tech Football recruiting breakdown series continues today as the focus shifts to the outside to wide receiver. Below are links to the stories that have already been done during this series.

Fontel Mines continues to be the Hokies’ ace recruiter already landing another four-star this class in Carnell Warren out of South Carolina, though there are some concerns among fans that he could be vulnerable to flip his commitment elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Hokies are also right in the hunt for some other big-time WR prospects while 2027 looks like another strong VA WR cycle.

So with that in mind, let's dive into the Hokies' 2026 and 2027 wide receiver recruiting classes.

2026: One Four-Star in With More Targets Out There

The Hokies are already on the board with one commitment from 6'4'', four-star WR Carnell Warren, though some fans have been worried about whether Warren will stick with the Hokies.

For now, I feel those concerns are greatly overblown with Warren not having any official visits scheduled outside of the one that he took to VT for the Spring Game. If that changes, then that will be a time for concern but otherwise, I think the concerns are greatly overblown.

However, the Hokies have a loaded group of targets to watch in their pursuit of building a strong WR class around Warren. There's likely room to take a couple more receivers this class especially with a Philip Montgomery offense that will likely emphasize the passing game more than Tyler Bowen's offense did.
