Virginia Tech’s first loss of the season came in about as painful a fashion as possible, but James Franklin doesn’t want the Hokies allowing one Friday night to linger into another week.
After falling 35-33 to Pitt on a controversial finish at Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech returned to work Sunday with an emphasis on maintaining the same process that helped it start the season 4-0.
That message was echoed by Franklin, Isaiah Brown-Murray and offensive lineman Aidan Lynch as the Hokies began preparations for a cross-country trip to face Cal.
Franklin wants Hokies to stick to their process
Franklin opened his weekly press conference by thanking Virginia Tech fans for the atmosphere they created against Pitt, calling the environment “electric,” before acknowledging the disappointment surrounding the result.
Virginia Tech had opportunities to win despite turning the ball over four times, eventually getting into position for John Love’s would-be game-winning field goal as time expired.
The Hokies now have to make sure the loss doesn’t carry into their preparation for Cal.
