Kenny Brooks has found himself a new assistant to fill out his staff as Ball State assistant Jauwan Scaife is joining Virginia Tech Women's Basketball staff in the same capacity.

Scaife joins Virginia Tech's staff after one season as an assistant at his alma mater Ball State with the Cardinals going 26-9 this past season while reaching the second round of the WNIT.

Prior to his time at Ball State, Scaife spent two seasons at Utah State as an assistant and recruiting coordinator. He also worked as an assistsnt earlier in his career at SE Missouri State, Evansville, and Murray State in that order since 2015 as he has slowly ascended the WBB coaching ranks since he finished his collegiate MBB career in 2013.

At Ball State, Scaife ranks 14th all-time in points scored while also earning All-MAC Second Team honors as a senior 2012-13 before becoming a grad assistant at Ball State for 2 years.

Kenny Brooks and Jauwan Scaife had the following to say about Scaife's hiring per Virginia Tech's press release.

"I am extremely excited to add Jauwan to our staff," Brooks said. "He brings energy and a wealth of knowledge that will benefit not just our athletes but the entire staff. He is top notch and a rising star in our profession."

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Hokie family," Scaife commented. "I am eager to get started and look forward to working alongside this incredible staff led by Coach Brooks."

Scaife is clearly an ascendant assistant who also has quality experience at good programs and has been in a lead recruiting role having spent time as a recruiting coordinator at Utah State. We've seen Kenny Brooks be able to find young, rising assistants and help them become rising stars from former long-time assistant and Chattanooga HC Shawn Poppie to current assistant Lindsey Hicks and more.
