Burnham is the second transfer portal addition for the Hokies this offseason joining UTSA SG Jordan Ivy-Curry. He now gives the Hokies eight scholarship players for the 2024-25 season, with five scholarships still open for further additions.
Burnham was a productive player for Charleston during his three years, helping the Cougars reach the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons. Burnham returned to a starting role this past season and had his best season to date averaging 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per game while shooting 46.4% from the field including 36.8% from three point range on his way to earning All-CAA Third Team honors.
Burnham has proven to be a very good two-way player who was a key piece to Charleston's success over the past two years. He immediately fits the mold of a more modern 3-and-D wing that we see populating the NBA game more and more.
The metrics point to Burnham being someone who is more than ready for the jump to the power conference level. He has had a player efficiency rating of 22.0 and 21.9 the past two seasons, win shares per 40 minutes over .16 the past two seasons, and offensive ratings above 117 the past two years compared to defensive ratings below 105 during each of those seasons, a massive disparity that suggests a player who is dominating his competition.
