Virginia Tech Makes the Top 4 for Four-Star WR Keylen Adams

Keylen Adams 3 June 2022 VT Visit

After recently visiting Virginia Tech, four-star WR Keylen Adams released a top 4 with the Hokies making the cut for him.

Virginia Tech was joined by Penn State, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia in Adams' top 4. Miami may be the most notable school to miss the cut after Adams including them in his top 12 and visited them in top 12. Florida State, South Carolina, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Duke, and East Carolina were the other top 12 schools to miss his top 4. Michigan and Tennessee are also notable offers to not make his top 4.

This cut down sets the stage for these schools to likely land official visits from Adams though the fact that he's down to 4 makes you wonder how far out his timeline for making a decision may be.

Virginia Tech and Penn State feel like the 2 favorites among these 4 after both hosted Adams last month and have clearly impressed him to date. Brent Pry has re-asserted Tech as the premier in-state option for VA recruits while Penn State has done lots of damage in the Commonwealth in recent years on the recruiting trail with top 10 guys.

Fontel Mines has recruited the 757 for a long time and is leading the charge with Brent Pry also playing a large role. Meanwhile, Penn State adding UVA WRs coach Marques Hagans to their staff adds a fascinating wrinkle to this recruitment while James Franklin likely will also have a large role going forward.

Pittsburgh may be the sleeper here as the Panthers have had a fair amount of success recruiting the 757 recently. West Virginia feels like the long shot given that Neal Brown may be on the hottest seat in Power 5 looking ahead to 2023 though the Mountaineers are in region.

If Tech were able to land Adams, it would be a massive statement on the recruiting trail given his status as not only a top overall target for VT, but as a consensus top 3 2024 recruit in VA.

Keylen Adams' recruitment seems to be entering its final stages with another Virginia Tech-Penn State recruiting battle emerging for a top VA recruit. The question is can the Hokies hold off the Nittany Lions (and Pitt & WVU) and land one of VA's best? We'll find out in the coming months.
