The Hokies were joined by North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Indiana, and Virginia in the top 5 for Courtney. Duke, Maryland, Boston College, East Carolina, JMU, Temple, App State, and more offers did not make the cut for the Northern Virginia standout.
He had this to say about why the Hokies made his top 5.
"VT made my top 5, because it’s home. It’s not too far from where I’m from, the family can make all the games, and I just felt like that’s somewhere I can see myself playing. Also, my position coach at VT (Pierson Prioleau) played in the NFL as a safety so he already know what it takes because he’s really done it," Courtney said.
Courtney told us that he is talking with Virginia Tech about setting up a visit soon and did visit Blacksburg in March. He is also visiting North Carolina this upcoming weekend and Indiana the following weekend.
Leading the charge for the Hokies in his recruitment is safeties coach Pierson Prioleau along with nickels/sam LBs coach Shawn Quinn who is one of VT's area recruiters for Northern Virginia.
He had this to say about his relationship with Pierson Prioleau.
"It’s still good. He came by the school, said what’s up and just had a cool conversation with him about life and things like that. We also text every now and then too and he’ll check up on me," Courtney said.
He has this to say about his relationship with Shawn Quinn.
"It’s good. He came by the school the most to say what’s up and see how I was doing and just telling me about VT," Courtney said.
Looking ahead, Courtney told us that he is currently looking at making his decision at the "end of July or August." He added this on what the key factors will be in making his decision.
"If I can get an opportunity to try to compete and get on the field as soon as possible, and which school I jus feel most comfortable at," Courtney said.
Virginia Tech is in the hunt for three-star ATH Kameron Courtney as his recruitment focuses in on his top schools.
