Virginia Tech Men’s Basketball is starting to make bigger pushes with Class of 2027 recruits including two who recently included the Hokies in their respective top sixes in four-star PG Joshua Tyson out of West Chester Township, OH and four-star PG Tre Keith out of East Point, GA.

Let’s start with Tyson who is among the top targets for the Hokies this cycle per source. VT made the top six for Tyson along with hometown schools Cincinnati and Xavier plus Ohio State, Michigan State, and Clemson.
His offer list includes those six schools plus West Virginia, Penn State, Arizona State, and others. Tyson is highly-regarded by all the major recruiting services as he’s ranked 55th nationally in the Class of 2027 by 247 Sports, 63rd by ESPN, and 71st by Rivals.
According to 247 Sports, Tyson is currently scheduled Blacksburg on Labor Day weekend including James Franklin’s first game as head coach of the VT Football program. He is a priority target for the Hokies per source and is definitely a name to watch this cycle.
Meanwhile, Keith’s top six included VT, in-state Georgia Tech, Clemson, Mississippi State, Saint Louis, and Boston College.
In addition to those six schools, Keith also holds offers from Tennessee, Georgia, Providence, Xavier, South Florida, and others.
247 Sports is very high on Keith ranking him 60th nationally in the Class of 2027 while ESPN also has given Keith a four-star rating and Rivals rates him as a three-star recruit.
This is likely to be a small recruiting class for the Hokies, especially as all of college sports adapts to the new five-in-five eligibility rules that will lead to the Class of 2027 having fewer spots than normal at the power conference level. Tyson is definitely a top target for the Hokies while Keith is definitely a name to monitor as this cycle progresses.
