As first reported by Evan Watkins of 247 Sports’ VT Scoop, Virginia Tech OL Lemar Law Jr is no longer on the Hokies’ football roster. Per source, we’ve heard that the Hokies are expected to provide further clarity on Law’s status soon, and that the 757 native is expected to have a role within the program going forward.

Law came in as an intriguing defensive tackle prospect with great size that had many excited about his potential. However, Law was unable to break through at defensive tackle for various reasons before shifting to the offensive line briefly this spring.

With Law’s departure from the football roster, this puts the Hokies at 84 scholarships based on my accounting of it. That would leave a spot open for a fourth transfer addition during this spring portal window.

If Tech does make a fourth transfer addition, this could simply be a best available move at this point given what is available compared to what Tech’s biggest needs are. If not, Tech may end up extending this scholarship to a veteran walk-on about to graduate for a semester to preserve their current projected scholarship flexibility for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

We will have more as this story develops.
