Heading into Thursday afternoon, the Virginia Tech Hokies (18-12, 9-9) appeared to be playing a must-win game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (22-9, 9-9) in the second round of the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament.
The Hokies entered the day as the first team out according to ESPN Women’s basketball bracketologist Charlie Creme, and wound up losing 72-57 after keeping it close for three quarters.
Despite the loss, head coach Megan Duffy feels her team deserves to be in the field of 68.
“I think 100% we’re a tournament worthy team,” Duffy said despite the loss.
