According to VT Scoop’s Evan Watkins, Virginia Tech is hiring UCONN special teams coordinator Doug Shearer to be the Hokies’ new special teams coordinator.

Shearer had been UCONN’s STs coordinator since 2022 after working as Miami (OH)’s STs coordinator from 2019-21. He also was previously a quality control assistant for NC State from 2014-18 after spending one year at UCONN as a grad assistant to begin his coaching career.
