Virginia Tech women's basketball has played like a top 25 team for weeks, but the Hokies finally did enough to return to the rankings after a perfect 3-0 week headlined by wins over formerly #11 Georgia Tech and formerly #23 North Carolina.

The Hokies return to the Women's AP top 25 at #23, their first appearance in the rankings after falling out early in the season due to a November loss to a good Missouri State team.

Virginia Tech is one of six ACC teams that are currently ranked along with #3 Louisville, #4 N.C. State, #16 Georgia Tech, #19 Notre Dame, and #24 North Carolina. The ACC leads all conference with 6 teams ranked while the Big 10 and the SEC each have 5, the Big 12 has 4, the Pac-12 has 2, and the Big East, WCC, and Atlantic Sun each have 1.

Virginia Tech has been surging plenty lately with the NET rankings being big fans of the Hokies having Tech ranked 13th. Now, Tech has the validation from human polls to back out the reality that this team is clearly one of the top 25 teams in the country with #23 feeling low in all honesty.

This surge from Tech has also boosted their resume with those wins giving Tech four wins against teams ranked at the time of competition joining two wins over Duke who has since fallen out of the top 25 but is a comfortable NCAA Tournament team.

Tech will have a couple big chances to boost their rankings the next couple weeks with a trip to #3 Louisville on Sunday following a game at Syracuse this week, with a homestand of Miami and #4 N.C. State the following week to end the season.
