Four-star WR KeAndre Lambert, one of the top recruits in Virginia in the 2020 class and arguably Virginia Tech's top target, revealed his upcoming commitment date.
I will be commiting on October 4th at my schools pep rally....blessing!!!— KDL² (@Klamb2_) September 11, 2019
The Hokies have been considered one of the top contenders for his commitment along with Penn State, North Carolina, and Clemson with Lambert having visited Virginia Tech multiple times and taken official visits to Penn State and UNC this summer according to 247 Sports.
Since he was offered, Lambert has been a top target for the Hokies mostly because of his talent as the Maury HS WR has emerged not only as one of the best recruits in Virginia but one of the most talented wide receivers on the East Coast. That shows with his offer list that includes 24 schools, almost all of which are Power 5 programs, according to 247 Sports.
The Hokies do have a pair of significant connections starting with the fact that Lambert is the nephew of former Virginia Tech and Seattle Seahawks star Kam Chancellor, a major connection that could prove valuable. Additionally, the Hokies already hold a commitment from his high school teammate CJ Beasley that could prove valuable in a time when players at times do value getting to play with close friends at the collegiate level.
With an early October date, it'll be important for the Hokies to find a way to get Lambert on campus for an official visit that could also set the tone for the final few weeks of his recruitment. Obviously, the top target will likely be this Saturday's game though it's possible that they could fit it in either next week or the week after despite not having a Saturday home game with VT also not having a road game on any date during the rest of this month.
