According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Virginia Tech is targeting Buffalo Bills assistant Christian Taylor to become their next offensive coordinator.

Taylor spent this past season as a defensive analyst on the Bills staff. Prior to that, Taylor was the offensive coordinator and QBs coach for William & Mary from 2020-23 where he developed one of the most innovative offenses in the country that received national praise including from The Athletic. That led to him being named the AFCA FCS Assistant of the Year in 2023.

He also was the offensive coordinator and QBs coach at San Diego in 2019 after being the co-OC in 2018 and WRs coach in 2016 and 2017. This isn’t Taylor’s first stop in the Power 4 ranks as he was an offensive assistant at Michigan in 2011.

If Taylor is the guy, that would make Brent Pry two for two in hiring promising young coaches with coordinator experience at the lower levels and at least some NFL experience, but 0 previous FBS coordinator experience. There’s no doubt that Pry has shown he isn’t afraid to take a chance if he feels someone is the right guy for the job, regardless of where they’re coming from.
