Virginia Tech Women’s Golf has quickly developed into a solid top 30-40 program, but the program’s biggest star just delivered the program’s biggest moment yet.

Virginia Tech’s French star Valentine Delon won the 123rd Amateur Championship today with a 3&1 victory over Spaniard Andrea Revuelta who plays collegiate golf at Stanford. The championship was contested at the famous Muirfield course in Scotland. Here’s how she won the title after advancing out of the stroke play portion of the tournament. The nation of origin and college are listed next to the player Delon defeated on her way to the title.

  • Round of 64: 4&3 win over Zoe Cusack (USA, Virginia signee)
  • Round of 32: 2&1 win over Samantha Olson (USA, Tulsa)
  • Round of 16: 3&2 win over Meja Ortengren (Sweden, Stanford)
  • Quarterfinals: 2&1 win over Matilda Bjorkman (Sweden, Ole Miss)
  • Semifinals: 3&2 win over Savannah De Bock (Belgium, Eastern Michigan)
  • Final: 3&1 win over Andrea Revuelta (Spain, Stanford)

Delon is the first Hokie woman to win the prestigious (British) Amateur Championship title and only the second Hokie to ever do so after Drew Weaver won the men’s title in 2007.

With her victory, Delon receives invites into four of the five women’s majors along with multiple other events. Here’s the full rundown starting with the majors.

  • 2026 AIG Women’s Open
  • 2026 Amundi Evian Championship
  • 2027 Chevron Championship
  • 2027 US Women’s Open
  • 2027 Augusta National Women’s Amateur
  • 2026 Standard Portland Classic

Delon’s victory comes after she led the Hokies in scoring average the past two seasons and saw her average round improve from 73.96 to 71.67 as a junior this past season. She also won the individual title at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate as a sophomore while also having five top 5s in her collegiate career. She also had seven top 20 finishes this past season, an impressive accomplishment.

Delon now can shift her focus to making her major championship debut this summer on home soil at the Amundi Evian Championship from July 9-12. She’ll get to follow that up by playing in the AIG Women’s Open before getting to finish her summer with a stop in Portland on the LPGA Tour. Don’t be surprised if Delon is playing some high level golf after her time at Virginia Tech.
