After a pair of losses to open the 2025 season including an embarrassing second half on their way to defeat against Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech is looking to turn things around and pick up their first victory of the season against an Old Dominion team that is hungry to pull off a stunning upset in Blacksburg. So as you get ready for tonight's game, here's my look at what to watch for the Hokies.

Kyron Drones Searches For Consistency

Kyron Drones' start to the 2025 season has been inconsistent to say the least.

He made some great throws in the opener against South Carolina, but also had some bad misfires and a big mistake with a bad interception in the red zone on a third down where he tried to do more than his physical abilities allow him to do. The first quarter of last week's game was much better as Drones was 8-11 for 84 yards while making some plays with his legs too. That led to 10 points and a pair of 64+ yard drives in what was an encouraging start for VT's offense.

The offense started to crumbled from there though as Drones was 9-18 for 50 yards for the rest of the game with Tech only having one drive of 60+ yards after the first quarter.
